Courtyard by Marriot, The Grand Event Center coming to Grandview in 2016

What are your grand plans for next year?

Whether your calendar includes a wedding, reunion, conference, or the event of the year, look no further than the Grandview Yard.  Nationwide Realty Investors today announced plans to build the 13,000-square-foot Grand Event Center and adjoining Courtyard by Marriot in the Grandview Yard.  The Yard is less than 2 miles from Downtown Columbus, and even closer to the Arena District.

The Grand Event Center’s 4,500 square-foot grand ballroom will feature 18-foot-high ceilings, abundant natural light, and room for up to 300 guests. It will open onto an outdoor courtyard and fire pit to comfortably accommodate up to 100. The event center will also feature a commercial kitchen and resident executive chef, as well as full on-site catering capabilities. The center will be adjacent to the new Courtyard by Marriot, just west of Hofbrauhaus Columbus.

For smaller occasions, classes and meetings, the Grand Event Center will offer three, 50-guest rooms that will reconfigure and combine to accommodate 150. Additional amenities include state-of-the-art audiovisual systems, a reception space, a pre-function social gathering area, and offices for facility management and the area’s Convention and Visitors’ Bureau, Destination Grandview. Free parking will be available in the adjacent 500-space garage.

Complementing the clean, modern lines of the 126-room Hyatt Place on Yard Street, the Courtyard will feature the brand’s latest guest room design and amenities, an outdoor seating area and fire pit, an indoor pool, a fitness center, and meeting rooms.  Going up at the corner of Goodale Boulevard and Yard Street, the four-story, 135-room hotel will also include the Courtyard Bistro, offering grab n’ go snacks, breakfast, light sit-down meals, and a variety of beer, wine and cocktails.

NRI President and COO Brian J. Ellis said construction will start in May and should be completed by Summer 2016. The Grand Event Center will be operated by Columbus Hospitality Management.

“We are excited to partner with Nationwide Realty Investors to develop a new Courtyard hotel at Grandview Yard,” said Callette Nielsen, vice president and global brand manager of Courtyard by Marriott.

“This dynamic location paired with the exceptional Courtyard  experience will serve both business and leisure travelers well.”
