Dig in: Saturday’s Grandview Digfest is craft beer heaven

This is it, folks. That one day in the year that you wish would go on forever…

Is tomorrow.

Grandview Digfest will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 14, and run through 10:30 p.m.  The Grandview Area Chamber‘s all-Ohio drinks showcase will shut down Yard Street from Goodale Avenue to Burr, and they do make good on their promise to throw Grandview one heck of a party.  Sample (or get a full pour of)  beers from 23 Buckeye State brewers, including Maumee Bay, Zaftig, Sideswipe, Seventh Son, Bad Tom Smith and more.

The Grandview Craft Beer Alliance table will also feature 7 cask beers.  Digfest isn’t just for beer, though–Ohio wines and spirits will be well-represented with liquors and can’t-make-enough-of-‘em cocktails from Watershed, Middle West Spirits, and  Mill Street distilleries; as well as vintages from Ohio’s own Camelot and Eldchrist Wineries.

If you love great live music (Colin Gawel & the Lonely Bones, The Randys), a happy crowd, and cool artifacts like genuine whiskey-barrel tables or Daisy Mae Designs’ handcrafted, map-inspired beverage accessories, you are in for a great evening.  Responding to last year’s blowout demand, Digfest organizers have added even more local drinks and food.  There’s plenty of great grub to choose from, whether it’s Grandview Yard favorites like Jason’s Deli or Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill; or regional staples like Schmidt’s Sausage Truck or Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.   You’ll find a complete list of Digfest food offerings here.

Incredibly, there are still a few spots left for volunteers, who receive pretty cool perks.  Click here to volunteer for Digfest.

Grandview Digfest began in 2011 as a way to celebrate local craft brewers, micro-distilleries, Ohio wines and liqueurs. Still often-pondered and little-known is the origin of its name.  Quite simple, really: Drinks In Grandview. Dig it.

Last call is 10:15 p.m. Entrance and parking are free, and Digfest offers safe rides home for those who have a little too much fun. Hyatt Place-OSU Columbus (conveniently located about 50 yards away), is offering some great overnight and group specials, as well. Details are featured here.
